Explain: Use the handout from Literacyta.com to investigate fiction. Create 8 boxes in your notebook. On the left, title the box "Investigative Question." On the right, title your box "Your Response." In the box on the left, write your investigative question and cite the paragraph and page number. As you read, answer the question in the box on the right. Ask 4 different questions. Some example questions are:

  • What do I understand so far? What do I still need to know?
  • How are the characters (or events) in this paragraph impacting the plot?
  • What is the main character’s internal and external conflict?
